The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Dubai Visits the Synergy University Dubai Campus
On 25 April, a business meeting took place at the Synergy University Dubai campus between the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Oleg Fomin, and the Director of Synergy’s branch in the UAE, Ilya Melnichuk. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of the campus’s educational activities, which has successfully completed the official accreditation procedure and is ready to welcome its first students.
The meeting also addressed the establishment of a Russian educational hub based at the campus as part of a programme to create a network of multifunctional educational centres in foreign countries. The key objective of the project is to enhance the global competitiveness of Russian education and to attract international students to the Russian educational space.
In addition to achieving its core educational objectives, the hub will serve as a platform for promoting Russian cultural values, in particular the popularisation of the Russian language. The pooling of research resources from leading Russian universities towards a shared goal will also stimulate international inter-university cooperation.
The Dubai campus is focused on delivering a wide range of educational programmes in areas such as world economy and sustainable development, innovative entrepreneurship, hotel and restaurant business, the English language, and MBA programmes in strategy and leadership. It is planned to attract more than 700 students from different countries annually; this will be the first overseas branch of a Russian university to deliver education on such a scale. Tuition will be conducted in English.
Campus staff, who are fluent not only in English but also in Russian, will assist students with all organisational matters related to visas, accommodation, and settling in.
As at other Synergy educational sites, students will receive comprehensive support, including assistance with employment during their studies.
From a technological perspective, the campus is equipped in accordance with the most advanced international standards. During a brief tour, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Oleg Fomin, familiarised himself with the campus infrastructure.
Synergy’s colleagues in Dubai have expressed strong interest in integration into the Russian community in the UAE, and during the meeting the campus Director, Ilya Melnichuk, confirmed his intention to take an active part in all events organised by the Russian Consulate. The first step will be participation in celebratory events dedicated to Victory Day and Russia Day.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ilya Melnichuk presented scholarship programmes to the distinguished guest, aimed at supporting the most talented applicants and granting them the right to tuition-free study at the campus. Responsibility for the selection of candidates has been entrusted to the Russian Consulate in Dubai.

Together with the Consulate, we are creating a comprehensive range of services required for living and studying abroad,” said Ilya Melnichuk.
